Fitness Isn’t A Number

Researchers are finding one of the biggest reasons we don’t exercise is because we feel like it’s all a big comparison game. We’re intimidated by going to the gym. We know comparison robs us of joy, but now, if we’re not careful, it’ll rob us of our health. I know that seems dramatic. But there’s a reason I prefer a dark cardio room when I run on a treadmill and if, Lord help us, I ever do Zumba, it needs to also happen in a very dark room. Or we bird box it and all wear blindfolds because I don’t need people seeing what moving with rhythm does to me. Today, we’re talking about fitness. We’re talking about what makes us want to take care of ourselves and what makes us avoid it. One of my favorite guests, Brooke, joins me as we dispel some myths associated with exercise and gives us some tips that have helped her over the years. And, finally, we launch one of our dreams. Right here. My heart starts racing thinking about it because I’m excited/nervous about it all. I’m so excited for you all to hear and be apart of No One Told Me Fitness Isn’t A Number.

Power Protein Balls:
2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup old-fashioned oats, plus extra for rolling
1 1/2 TBSP honey
1/4 cup mini chocolate chip, plus more for rolling
1/4 cup flaxseeds (optional)
Mix all ingredients in a bowl until well-combined.
Cover with plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Once chilled, roll into 1 inch balls. (Cover hands in a light layer of butter or oil for easy rolling.)
Lay out a thin layer of oats and chocolate chips on a cutting board or parchment paper and roll the balls in the mixture. Finish off by rolling each ball between your hands to pack in the oats and chocolate chips.
